Kolhapur is famous for Mahalaxmi temple. This temple is one of the nicest architectural marvel. The entire temple rests on number of carved stone pillars. People celebrates the Navaratri festival in the temple, during these nine days of festival ,different cultural activities are organized by the citizens.
Another festival called as 'Kirnotsav', is also celebrated in a temple once in a year during 8th Nov. to 11th Nov. and 31st Jan to 2nd Feb. During this, Sunrays directly falls on the statue of Mahalaxmi Devi.
Near this temple, there is a temple of Bhavani Devi.
